Pretty in Pink

David Florist is featuring my 'Cherry Blossom' Armchair, patchwork floral footstool and a giant velvet floor pillow in his pretty in pink window display. All textiles on these pieces have been lovingly hand dyed by myself using non-toxic, water-based dyes to create a unique abstract pattern. The furniture was reupholstered and painted using Annie Sloan chalk paint to bring them back to life.

Busy weekend :)

It has been a busy weekend at the Pop Up Spring Boutique. The weather was lovely on Saturday, on my drive out to the shop I just had to stop and take a picture of our beautiful Scottish countryside ♥

Here are a few photos of the inside of the shop. All of the textile items are Emma June Designs and Jacqui Oh! has a gorgeous range of upcycled furniture available.

Opening Night with Jacqui Oh!

Our opening event on the Friday night was a huge success with music from the beautiful voices of Isla and Keiran and scrumptious cakes from local cupcake business- Cake by Shannon. We also had some really lovely Spring inspired poetry readings from three talented local writers.

Below is a little picture of myself and Jacqui thanking everyone for attending, a group picture of some of my close friends that came to the event (with some photo-bombers in the backround!) and also a couple of pictures of our fantastic entertainment.

Pop Up Spring Boutique!

I am really excited to announce that I will be hosting a Pop Up Spring Boutique with Aberdeen upcycling business, Jacqui Oh! Our pop up shop will take place in Nina's Apartment in Inverurie on the 15th- 16th March.

Be sure to mark the opening night on Friday 14th March in your diaries to be the first to get your hands on our hand made, upcycled goodies for your home!

Hello dark Winter mornings...

I really need to get more lights in my workshop, I do not recommend sewing in the dark ;)

I thought I would give you a little peek into my dyeing/ making/ creative space. You have to be quite resourceful when moving to a new country and not having all the usual supplies at arms length. Here are some pictures of my make-shift steamer, dye baths, etc.

This photo was taken through the window of some fabrics dyeing on the balcony, I was just about to photograph them when the heavens opened and I had to rush them back inside and into my make-shift steamer pictured below!

Lavender and Thistle

So today I carried THIS humongous package on my bike (in the rain) to the post office. As much as I love the cycling lifestyle in Copenhagen sometimes I really miss having a car!

These 2 chairs are traveling to Scotland to find their new home. They will be in the window of David Florist in the new year so grab them quickly if you are interested in a new statement piece of furniture! They would look gorgeous as a pair or individual. 

Both have been lovingly up-cycled with the finest of fabrics and re-painted using the Annie Sloan chalk paint (See my previous blog post- The Wonderful World of Chalk Paint) I used 'Old White' mixed with a teensy bit of 'Old Violet' and some dark wax to give them an aged effect.

The fabric used in the chair to the left, 'Thistle', is an absolutely beautiful Italian velvet. It was the last of it's kind from the shop and I just had to get it. Both fabrics have been hand dyed to create a unique blend of lilacs, pinks and blues with splashes of yellows in the chair to the right, 'Lavender'.
