Crate Inspiration!

I have become a bit obsessed with wooden crates. They are just so versatile, you can use them for so many things and they are full of personality. I tracked down 4 old Danish apple crates that I plan on using to display my work. I cycled with one on my bike and went back by 2 buses to get the last 3! My bus happens to be the busiest bus line in Northern Europe so you can imagine my struggle!

Where there's a will there's a way!

I have scoured Pinterest for tips on displaying your crates and these are some of the best ones I found...

Inspired by woodland....

I've been working on a new collection of cushions inspired by natural earth tones. Living in Scandinavia for the past two years has influenced my colour palate. Calm grey, blue and white tones are seen everywhere in Scandinavian interiors. Norway in particular has a deep rooted love of nature which I also share and has motivated me to create this collection. These cushions are made of beautiful soft silk and cotton velvets. The textiles are all individually hand dyed making each piece unique. Here are some pictures of the finished textiles waiting to be turned into cushions...

This is me working away on Saturday night... Rock and roll! Stay posted for the final cushions!

Pretty in Pink

David Florist is featuring my 'Cherry Blossom' Armchair, patchwork floral footstool and a giant velvet floor pillow in his pretty in pink window display. All textiles on these pieces have been lovingly hand dyed by myself using non-toxic, water-based dyes to create a unique abstract pattern. The furniture was reupholstered and painted using Annie Sloan chalk paint to bring them back to life.

David Florist is located at 39-43 Thistle Street, Aberdeen, Scotland, AB10 1UY.

Busy weekend :)

It has been a busy weekend at the Pop Up Spring Boutique. The weather was lovely on Saturday, on my drive out to the shop I just had to stop and take a picture of our beautiful Scottish countryside

Here are a few photos of the inside of the shop. All of the textile items are Emma June Designs and Jacqui Oh! has a gorgeous range of upcycled furniture available.

Some of my Spring inspired velvet cushion collection on display next to a Jacqui Oh! upcycled table.

This cozy corner features my range of linen and wool cushions with some colourful hand dyed table runners as well as some framed textile artworks.

I'm in love with this Jacqui Oh! sideboard!

Hand dyed make up bags with leather tassels.

These cute freesia and daffodil tea cups and sugar bowls were a huge hit!

Opening Night with Jacqui Oh!

Our opening event on the Friday night was a huge success with music from the beautiful voices of Isla and Keiran and scrumptious cakes from local cupcake business- Cake by Shannon. We also had some really lovely Spring inspired poetry readings from three talented local writers.

Below is a little picture of myself and Jacqui thanking everyone for attending, a group picture of some of my close friends that came to the event (with some photo-bombers in the backround!) and also a couple of pictures of our fantastic entertainment.

We are open all weekend 10am-5pm. Come along to support independent businesses and get your Mother's Day gifts from us!
