Cushions Galore

I have recently been working on a new collection of cushions. Whilst looking around shops and galleries in Copenhagen I have noticed a big influence from geometric shapes and tribal patterns. I've tried to incorporate this style into my designs. I have also noticed a lot of monochrome themes, which I considered, but my love for colour overcame :) Maybe I'll try it next time. The last couple days have been filled with pattern cutting, dying and sewing... Here are a few pictures of my dyeing technique and the finished cushions so far...

These cushions will be for sale on my Etsy website, but are not there quite yet! Stay tuned :)

Be You

Here is a hand made piece of textile art with a little motivational message to brighten up your Tuesday afternoon :)

The fabrics used are a combination of beautiful hand dyed silks and linen. The hand dyeing process makes this artwork completely unique.

'Be You' is for sale on my Etsy website. Click here to view it!

It has been a very rainy day in Copenhagen but it looks as if the sun is trying to make an appearance. Just LOOK at this wonderful view out of my window...

I was working on some textile artwork yesterday. Here are a few pictures of the finished pieces...

My cat loves to be the center of attention, she even started falling asleep with 'Dream' in the background... what a little model :)

Creative Copenhagen

Yesterday, whilst cycling back home from the Red Bull Wakeboard competition, we passed a really cool street art festival called 'Remake Utopia'. This is their blog site. They collected literally tonnes of trash from the Roskilde Festival which was all reused and recycled at their festival. I wish we could have stopped to make something but we were rushing home :(

"Remake Utopia opens up for new, creative and fun ways to remake. It aims to push the limits and inspires others to see, how trash can be transformed from no or little value to something new and meaningful.

It shows how trash can gain value and the significant potentials working with trash"

I love how Copenhagen is full of artistic people. Also, how cute are these two in the picture below? ♥
I cycle on this road most days, I love the building in the background which says:
'One man's trash is another man's treasure'.

Höstlöv (Autumn Leaves)

I've completed a new Rococo chair. It is titled 'Höstlöv', which is Swedish for Autumn leaves. My colours are changing with the season and developing more autumnal tones with muted pinks, burnt greens and flashes of gold and rich browns.

The textiles I have used are a combination of high quality vintage finds, hand-me-downs and shop-bought silks. They were manipulated through hand dyeing processes to create the unique blend of colours. The original chair was purchased from a Swedish family in Norway and had been in their family for generations. I love to imagine the stories these antique chairs would tell if they could speak ;)

It is available for purchase on my Etsy website, click here to have a look.

You can buy this in good conscious knowing you are doing your little bit to help the planet. Purchase recycled items and reduce landfill sites

Inspiration Trip

Over the weekend we took a little inspiration road trip to Frederiksborg castle just outside of Copenhagen. It was full of the most amazing furniture with such beautiful details. I got a bit snap happy...

This is me struggling to follow the audio guide...

I have just ordered an interesting looking furniture book by Judith Miller so I can get to know all these different styles of chairs more :)
